StarRise vs tracking-only AI visibility tools

Many AI visibility tools tell you whether ChatGPT mentions your brand. That's a useful start. StarRise also tells you why competitors win, what to fix first, and whether the fix worked.

Tracking

Am I visible?

Mentions and citations across engines. Most tools cover this.

Diagnose

Why do they win?

The content, coverage and citation gaps behind each lost answer.

Prescribe and execute

What do I fix?

Ranked fixes with projected lift and hours, drafts, and a team.

Measure

Did it work?

A re-run on the same questions and engines, with the measured change.

What a full loop adds to tracking

Tools in this category vary a lot and change often. The "Typical tracking tool" column describes what we usually see. Check any specific vendor yourself.

Why it matters

Where tracking alone leaves you

A number with no next step

"You're mentioned in 30% of answers" is a fact. It doesn't tell you which page to change or how much it would help. StarRise ranks every fix by projected lift and the hours it takes.

Noise that looks like news

AI answers vary from one ask to the next. A single-sample tracker can show a jump that is only luck. On paid plans we ask three times per engine, so one lucky answer can't swing the score.

Citations that never happened

Counting every URL a model types inflates the headline. StarRise counts a citation only when the engine actually links to your domain.

Find the gap. Fix it. Prove it worked.

Buyer's checklist

Questions to ask any AI visibility vendor

Use these on every tool you evaluate, including us. Good vendors answer them plainly.

  • How many times do you ask each question? One answer per engine is a snapshot, not a rate.
  • How do you handle answers that vary? Ask how they decide a change between runs is real.
  • What counts as a citation? A real link to your domain, or any URL the model mentions?
  • Do you check the consumer apps? The app and the API don't always give the same answer.
  • Can I read the raw answers? Every score should trace back to answers you can inspect.
  • Where do the questions come from? Does your brand name ever appear in them?
  • Which engines are covered on my plan? Ask for the list per plan, not the maximum.
  • Will you tell me what to fix, and how much it's worth? A ranked plan, with estimates you can check later.
  • Who does the work? Your team, your agency, or theirs?
  • How do you prove a fix worked? Ask what happens after the change ships.

StarRise's answers to each are on our methodology page, and you can test them on your own site with the free report.

FAQ

Choosing an AI visibility tool

What should I look for in an AI search visibility tool?

Coverage of the engines your buyers use, repeated sampling, verified citations, raw answers you can inspect, and a clear plan for what to fix. Then ask how it proves a fix worked.

Is StarRise a replacement for my SEO tools?

No. Keep your SEO stack. Rank trackers measure blue links. StarRise measures the AI answer that sits above them, and the fixes it prescribes are content and technical work your team already knows.

Which engines does StarRise cover?

ChatGPT on every plan. Starter adds Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Pro can add Claude, and White Glove includes it. See pricing.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yes. The free report runs on ChatGPT with four buyer questions and one competitor, and shows your AI Readiness Score and how ChatGPT describes you.
